Never Mind

Well we are back to potty training. Now Andrew is taking us to the M&M stash to get one but we tell him that he has to sit on the potty chair to get one. We take out the chair and Andrew lifts the lid and sits down. He gets an M&M. Once he is on the chair, he asks for another M&M. Now we tell him that he has to go potty on the chair to get another M&M. So he sits on the chair and goes potty. When he stands up we take the bowl to the toilet and flush it down. Then he gets his reward. But if he fails to go potty, I do end up giving him a reward for trying. We do this at least once a day now. So he is getting the concept somewhat. No #2 yet just #1. One day he'll let us know when he needs to go and not use his diaper. For now we just get lucky when he goes on the chair. I'm not going to get our hopes up.

Anniversary

Well it was 6 years ago today that David and I were married and sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. These 6 years have gone by fast. I'm so happy to have David in my life and I don't know what I would do without him. Yesterday we kinda celebrated by going to the Temple to do some work. Since we got there late and missed a session, we decided to go do sealings instead. We had a nice surprise, they brought us to "our sealing room" to do the sealings. It really made our day to be able to go up to the room and to able to spend time in it again. For those that aren't familiar with that sealing room, that room is on the third floor all by itself. You have to take the elevator to get to the room. It is the largest sealing room in the Los Angeles temple. After the Temple we went out for lunch to a burger joint called the Habit. They have the best burgers and we will drive across the valley to get some. After lunch we picked Andrew up from my Parents house and went home. Then I went to work. That was our day yesterday and today as being the big day, I have to work an 8 hour sift. I wont be off work until 9pm tonight. Bummer.

Getting in Shape

Well we are on our way. For the past month, David and I have been going for a run at least twice a week. We usually go when he gets home from school and run down to the park. It is only maybe a mile but we take the long way to get there. Lately Andrew will play for a little bit and then climb back into the stroller to come home. (That is how we know when he wants to leave.) On our way home, Andrew always seems to fall asleep in the stroller. I have only lost maybe five pounds and I'm okay with that. David has just stayed the same but is replacing flubber for muscle. On the days that we don't feel like running, we just take a trip up to the pool to do some swimming. (The walk up to the pool is a workout of it's own.) Besides all this exercise we have been having some very uneventful days. I have kinda stopped pushing Andrew to get Potty trained. He likes to play with the chair but doesn't have the interest to use it. He is fine when I sit him on it but just doesn't get the fact that you are suppose to go on the chair. Right now, he'll be sitting on the chair one minute and then he'll run away and pee on the floor. I really don't want to deal with that at this moment in time. I'll wait until he starts to show the interest to sit on the chair. I really would love the fact that he goes on the chair right now but I just have to be patient. I don't want to discourage him too early. On some unhappy news, about two months ago David's motorcycle motor blew up. Just this last weekend we got it back from the shop. So David installed the motor in one and half days. When he was finished with the install we decided to on a ride. Andrew was down for a nap so we asked David's dad to keep an eye on Drew while we went for a ride. I was so excited because I've waiting for a little while to have some time to go on a ride with David. We went around the valley and got lunch. We were only gone for maybe two hours because I had to get ready to go to work. Then just yesterday, as David was on his way home from school, his motor on his bike blew up again. So he pulled it out and shipped it back to Colorado to get fixed. (He is very upset.) Now we will have to wait another month before we are able to go on a motorcycle ride together again.

It's a start

Well we bought Andrew a potty chair last month. All this time we have just been getting him used to sitting on the chair with his clothes on. When he has been sitting on it for a decent amount of time we give him a M&M.

Well, we have been slacking on the chair time lately because Andrew has been sick and I didn't want to push the issue. But today of all days, I decided to put him on the chair without a diaper. I didn't think that he would do anything. He sat on the chair for about 20 minutes and I gave him his sippy cup and a M&M for his time. (We were watching Tom and Jerry on tv.) Then he got up off the chair and he had gone Pee. I didn't believe it, he went #1 on the potty. I gave him two M&M's for going to the bathroom on the potty. We celebrated and ate some snacks. I waited about 40 minutes and I did the process again. Sat him on the potty without the diaper and gave him a cracker. (He didn't want his sippy cup.) Again he sat there for about 20 minutes and he got an M&M. When he got up this time he went a second time on the potty. He got two M&M's again. This was twice in one hour. We were on a roll. I was just so eager for David to come home from school so that I could tell him about my morning. Since the last two times worked out so lucky, I tried a third time. This time Andrew just sat on the chair for 30 minutes staring at the Tv. But when he got up this time, he had done nothing. But he got a M&M or two for his time that he put in on the potty chair. It is a start but far from the end.

Visit from Family

David's Sister Jennifer and her two kids came down from Texas to spend the summer here in California. While they were here Jennifer took these pictures.

This is Thomas (Jennifer's youngest) and Andrew sitting on the Massage chair together. This other picture is of Ashlyn (Jennifer's oldest) and Thomas playing the piano together. Andrew wanted to join in too but he would really rather listen to the beautiful music. He really wasn't all that much at hitting the keys himself.


For some reason, Andrew just loved Jennifer's camera. He would just smile and give Jennifer a look.
This summer has been hot so we have been taken Andrew to the pool. He is slowly getting braver. He is climbing down two steeps and then reaching for our hands. He kind jumps off the step. We are slowly teaching Andrew how to swim. Sometimes Andrew will get brave enough and lower himself into the pool from the side. He have taught him that he needs to get into the pool by using the steps and not the side of the pool. So far, it is working.
Sometimes David just like the throw Andrew up into the air. He just loves it.
Andrew really enjoyed having the cousins around to play with. We are sad that they had to go home to Texas.

Update & the 4th

Well, after I posted the last post Andrew got worse. While I was at work he stopped eating and drinking anything. He also got this horrible cough that would make him cry but it hurt to cry. David drugged him up on cough medicine and Andrew slept through the night.

So onto the 4th of July mini Vacation. We didn't leave the house until 10:30 to drive to San Diego. Andrew stayed awake the whole drive down there. Once we got to San Diego we tried to put him in a room to take a nap. He just sat in the room watching "Finding Nemo" the whole time. Now it is about 2:30 pm. blast. Last year he wasn't old enough to enjoy the fun of the beach. Since he was still awake we took a walk down to 'Dog beach'. (We were to lazy to put any suits on.) Andrew had aThis year he would just run into the water. He really wasn't that interested in all the dogs running around. Andrew just so fascinated at the water coming at him. He would just run to meet the water and stop right before they meet and wait for the water to hit his feet. But once the water would rush past his feet he would fall backwards onto his butt. I would stand him up and once the water rushed back out he would fall on his face. He just kept running further and further out into the water. Since we were at dog beach, it takes a little while for the water to get too deep. I had to stop Andrew when he got waist deep because the if he fell over, he really would be under water. After about a half an hour at the beach Andrew had enough of getting salt water in the mouth we went back to the house. After a bath and some rest, David and I decided to take Andrew for a walk in the stroller. (Still trying to get him to take a nap.) With this being the 'College Capitol of the World' there were a ton of drunk parties going on. But Andrew finally fell asleep. But not how we normally does. Usually when I am pushing him the stroller, he would lean back and relax to fall asleep. On the 4th, he just feel asleep sitting up. David looked down at him through the window and saw Andrew hit his head on his sippy cup. He looked around the side of the stroller and sure enough he was asleep sitting up. I pushed the back rest back to straight and leaned Andrew back for some support to sleep. We hoped that this time he would take a decent nap. He stayed in his pack-n-play for maybe 20 minutes before he woke up crying. Since he hadn't had a really nap, we weren't going to last. So David and I packed up our things and left San Diego at 6 pm and drove home. We arrived home around 8:30 pm and laid Andrew down in his bed. As soon as we did that he fell right asleep.

But don't think the day ends there. Andrew had another rough night. His congestion get worse that he was unable to breath at night. (Around 1 am) He was so worn out that he just wanted to sleep. We sat in the bathroom with the shower on hot to breath in the steam. David mostly was up and down all night. In the morning we had a really hard time getting the Anti-biotic, Motrin and cough medicine down him. We thought that he had developed strep but David's sister, Jennifer, said that he sounds like he had croup. She ran out and got some medicine and I sent my time after/during work finding a cold mist humidifier. I bought one and we put it in his room last night to sleep with.

Today he sounded a little bit better but the game of getting food and fluids down his continues.

Long Night

Well, our little guy is sick. About 24hrs ago he came down with a fever(102). We have been having a hard time to get it to go down and to stay down. We gave him Motrin and when that kicked in it only lasted 4 hour before the fever came back with a vengeance. This went on all night. Andrew hasn't slept much in the last 24 hours. His nap yesterday consisted of and hour and half with some yelling in between. Then when David put him down for bed it took some time before he fell alseep at 9pm but woke up at midnight screaming with a fever. We went back and forth all night every hour finally at 4 am I gave him benadrily and Motrin. He passed out until 8 am. Lucky for us his fever didn't come around until 10:30 am. I already had a Dr appointment for him to get check out. On my way over to the appointment I left David a note on his bike at school that I was at the Doctors. He showed up at the appointment right when I just got in to see the Doctor.
So Andrew got weighted and he weighs in at 24 lbs. His temperature was 102.9 when we got there. The doctor checked him out and concluded that this is viral and will pass. She did prescribe us with a pink eye solution and an antibiotic. The pink eye solution because since he is sick and keeps rubbing his eyes it is looking like that he will end up with pink eye in both eyes. She told us that we can hold off on the antibiotic for now and watch him to see if he looks like he is getting better. If not, we can pick up the prescription. So for now, I gave him some Tylenol and put him down for a nap. Hopefully he will sleep for a decent amount of time.
The good news is that the Doctor told us to still go on our 4th of July Vacation day. So we still are going to San Diego and going to the beach. The Doctor said that it would be a nice distraction for Andrew to get away and have some fun. Well see how well tomorrow goes.

Here it is

Okay I have finally taken a video of Andrew going down a slide. It took some effort because the camera batteries were all dead but I got one. The one thing that I found funny was that he waited on the slide until I said okay and then he went down. He was so excited to perform.

Lack of posting

I know that I have been slacking on the posting. I have been too wrapped up in life that I have forgotten to write about it.

Andrew has finally learned how to slide down a slide on his butt. We were outside in the backyard and he climbed up the slide and sat down and scooted to the edge. I put out my hands and he went down. It has been a month now that he has learned this important skill. Now we can't keep him off the slide. He just slides down and runs around to do it again. I have even taken him to the park and he does it there too. I am so excited for him. I don't need to put out my hands anymore to support him, he does it all on his own now.

David is going to summer school and he doing okay with that. He has been going to his current class for two weeks now and he only had three weeks left of this one. Then he starts his next class for the next five weeks. David just keeps going and going with his schooling.

Well, the exciting news is that we have family staying with us for two weeks now. Jennifer (David's Sister) and her kids are staying with us on vacation. The plan is for only a month but we'll see how long they last. All I know is that Andrew is just loving having other kids to play with. Even though they are much older then him, he still is having fun. Andrew just loves it when they play the piano. He just sits on the stairs and listens.

That is my boring life. Sorry I don't have too much to post about.
