Andrew walking...

For those who aren't able to see Andrew walking in person, here is a video that we took on Christmas of Andrew moving. Hope that you all enjoy the fun.

He walks everywhere around the house. If he can't get somewhere fast enough, he just drops to his knees and crawls there.

Happy 1st Birthday!

Wow how a year goes by so fast. I'm going to take a page out of Carrie's blog and write a little something about the birth Andrew.

A little over a year ago, I went in for my first of my four weekly Doctors Appointment. At this moment in time I was not having a hard pregnancy. But at that appointment, when they checked my blood pressure it was very high. So high that they were afraid that I had preeclampsia. So they sent my to the Hospital to get tests done. I was okay so they sent me home with the order to return to the doctors office tommorow to get my blood pressure checked again. So back to the Doctors office we went the following day. Nothing had changed with my blood pressure and nothing that they did could bring it down. Since I was 37 weeks pregnant, Dr Marter (My doctor) decided that it would be good that I had the baby today instead of taking the risk with my blood pressure being so high. So back to the hospital we went but this time to stay. So we arrived at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital at Noon on the 29th of December 2006. By 3 pm they started a Cervidil that softens the cervixs to make me dilate. So all we had to do was wait and wait. It wasn't until Midnight that my water broke. So they took they cervidil out waited a couple hours to see if I will dilate on my own. By 3 am nothing happened so they started me on a Pitocin drip. (A very low drip) Since I hadn't dilated very much, I wasn't able to get an epidural yet. Since the contractions had picked up because of the pitocin, the nurse gave me a shot that lasts three hours to stop the pain. It worked wonderful. I was able to get some rest before the big moment. The shot wore off around 6 am and they checked me. I dilated to 8 cm and they were going to check on me in an hour. Before the hour could pass I was asking for a Nurse. They came back in and checked me and I was plus 2 and ready to have the baby at 7 am on the 30th of December 2006. They had me push and push to find out that I wasn't going to have the baby nautrually. They rushed me into the Operating room and got me ready for a C-section. I was at that time able to get my drugs to stop the pain. As I said to David when they brought him into the room, "I got drugs" (picture a drunk person saying that.)
At 8:55 am on the 30th of December 2006. ANDREW CHRISTOPHER SHEPHERD was born. He weighed in at 6 lbs 2 ozs and was 18 in long
