Andrew walking...

For those who aren't able to see Andrew walking in person, here is a video that we took on Christmas of Andrew moving. Hope that you all enjoy the fun.

He walks everywhere around the house. If he can't get somewhere fast enough, he just drops to his knees and crawls there.

Another Birthday!!!

Happy, Happy Birthday it's your special day. Happy, Happy Birthday lets all Say "Hurray".
Today is my moms Birthday and she is another year younger. Happy birthday Mom!!!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Wow how a year goes by so fast. I'm going to take a page out of Carrie's blog and write a little something about the birth Andrew.

A little over a year ago, I went in for my first of my four weekly Doctors Appointment. At this moment in time I was not having a hard pregnancy. But at that appointment, when they checked my blood pressure it was very high. So high that they were afraid that I had preeclampsia. So they sent my to the Hospital to get tests done. I was okay so they sent me home with the order to return to the doctors office tommorow to get my blood pressure checked again. So back to the Doctors office we went the following day. Nothing had changed with my blood pressure and nothing that they did could bring it down. Since I was 37 weeks pregnant, Dr Marter (My doctor) decided that it would be good that I had the baby today instead of taking the risk with my blood pressure being so high. So back to the hospital we went but this time to stay. So we arrived at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital at Noon on the 29th of December 2006. By 3 pm they started a Cervidil that softens the cervixs to make me dilate. So all we had to do was wait and wait. It wasn't until Midnight that my water broke. So they took they cervidil out waited a couple hours to see if I will dilate on my own. By 3 am nothing happened so they started me on a Pitocin drip. (A very low drip) Since I hadn't dilated very much, I wasn't able to get an epidural yet. Since the contractions had picked up because of the pitocin, the nurse gave me a shot that lasts three hours to stop the pain. It worked wonderful. I was able to get some rest before the big moment. The shot wore off around 6 am and they checked me. I dilated to 8 cm and they were going to check on me in an hour. Before the hour could pass I was asking for a Nurse. They came back in and checked me and I was plus 2 and ready to have the baby at 7 am on the 30th of December 2006. They had me push and push to find out that I wasn't going to have the baby nautrually. They rushed me into the Operating room and got me ready for a C-section. I was at that time able to get my drugs to stop the pain. As I said to David when they brought him into the room, "I got drugs" (picture a drunk person saying that.)
At 8:55 am on the 30th of December 2006. ANDREW CHRISTOPHER SHEPHERD was born. He weighed in at 6 lbs 2 ozs and was 18 in long

We have come a long way...

Okay I know that it has been a couple days since I have posted anything worth reading. So instead of writing what is new I will show you. These videos were taken after church three weeks ago.

Andrew's newest excitement is throwing a toy down the stairs and climbing down to get it. Then throwing it back up to throw it back down.

Lazy Thursday!!

Today wasn't all that exciting. I really hate Daylight savings right now. In the time that we are getting an extra hour of sleep, just isn't happening for me. We finally got Andrew to go to bed at his regular bedtime (8pm) after two days but he is waking up at 6 am instead of 7 am. We had him on a schedule and this daylight savings is messing things up. Besides that everything is going good.
Andrew has figured out how to open and close doors. How to open all the drawers in the kitchen. (his favorite drawers are the lid drawer and the two under the stove) David has rubber banded the kitchen cabinets to keep the little hands out. The other thing that Andrew has mastered is going up the stairs. He is a little monkey. He also loves to climb onto the massage chair and stand on the arm to get to the blinds.(We have pulled the blinds so he can't get to them. So he now looks out the window.) Once he's done on the massage chair, he climbs over and onto the couch. Once on the couch he climbs up the back and onto the top of the couch to get to the other blinds. If he can't make it, Andrew gets very frustrated. We are working really hard to keep him entertained and safe.
Update with David: David is almost done with this semester of school. He only has five more weeks left. He is ready for his classes to be over. Then he'll be able to sleep in for a couple weeks until the winter semester starts in January. David is hanging in there and moving a long.

Update with me: I'm still working at my job. We have a new store manager that is really cool. He really likes me as an employee. I am still working nights because David is going to school in the mornings. The only down side to working nights, I don't get to put Andrew down for bed at night. David has the opportunity every night. That is about it.

Happy Halloween!!

Here is our little guy in his costume for Halloween. That is right , He is NEMO from 'Finding Nemo'. We even went trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. We got some good candy. He held onto his bag until we got to the first house.
Just for a refernce, he is watching 'Finding Nemo' before and after we returned from collecting candy.
Maybe next year, he'll still fit into his costume and he can walk around the neighborhood.

FIRE!!!!

Okay Monday morning, David, Andrew and I drove up to the Nike Base turnout. Since you can see the Santa Clarita valley, David took some after fire burn. We didn't get active fire burning. The fire went through Canyon Country Sunday afternoon into the night. On Monday, there was still some burning going on but it was now further away from us but moving toward my work. The reference point in this picture is the cutout of the mountain on Soledad and 14 freeway off ramp. So you can get an idea how far it came into the valley. I can't tell right now exactly where that burt spot is.This is the area around Canyon High school, Whites Canyon(Plum Canyon), and Sierra Highway.Monday night, around 10pm, we were informed that a fire broke out just over the hill from us. The upper development was evacuated and part of the lower half of our street was evacuated. We were waiting for the fire to come up so we could see the fire but they put the fire out really fast. David and I only saw one puff of smoke when the wind wasn't blowing. This is the area where it was burning. With all the fire going on all around us, we never got the cover of smoke. But my parents house wasn't so lucky. This was how their house looked on Monday at 2pm.

David Told me to...

David wanted me to put up the better picture of his car at Red rock Canyon.

Then he wanted me to post the better picture of Drew standing at his car. (His facial expression is better then the other one and no one is in the background.)

To Vegas and Back....

Okay, We have driven to Vegas and back, and I'm just posting now. I know that I'm a little slow but at least I'm posting. We left California on Thursday October 4th and arrived in Vegas a couple hours later. Not to much to write about there except that there was no traffic. We stopped off first at our Hotel. We stayed at the Planet Hollywood Hotel. (Used to be named the Aladdin. It is located across the street from the Bellagio Hotel.)That night we met up with some friends and went to the Mandalay Bay Buffet. (The whole reason for going to Vegas was for the "Supras Invade Las Vegas" event.) After dinner we returned to the hotel to get some sleep.

The next day,Friday October 5th, was the car show. We arrived at the car show late but just in time for the voting. Davids car was on display for everyone to see how much work he has done to his car. After the show we hung out with some of our friends and went to another buffet. Another late night because after dinner we went to the Tropicana Conference center for the awards ceremony. We looked at pictures for the car show earlier that day. Once the awards started to get handed out, David received two awards. He won the award for Best stock body for his class of car and also all around best car of his class. Once all the awards were handed out it was 10 pm and way past our bed times.

On Saturday October 6th, there was the Scenic Drive. This drive took us through Red Rock Canyon. It was so peaceful because Andrew slept through most of the drive. At one of the three stops we made on the drive we took some pictures of Andrew.

"I love what you do for me TOYOTA"

After we returned from the Scenic Drive around 3pm we took these pictures. David took a picture of his car in front of the Luxor Hotel. Then I took these pics of our view from our windows of our hotel room.
We arrived home safely and happy to be in our own beds. All three of us. Since returning home Andrew has recovered from lack of sleep because he didn't want to sleep in the hotel room. Looking forward to what will come next year when Vegas comes around again.

Nothing too Exciting to Report...

Sorry there hasn't been a new post in a couple weeks. David has been working really hard at getting his car back together that when ever Andrew was down for a nap, I was helping David with his car or taking a nap myself. Well, Davids car is done and running. We are leaving for Las Vegas early Thursday morning and will be gone till Sunday. I'll try to post pics of our trip when I get back. (I did say "TRY".)Andrew has three teeth coming in on top. Two of those teeth he has been working on for a couple weeks now. I can't figure out which teeth they are. I'm thinking that they are his Fangs up top but I don't have the middle top teeth to judge from. The other tooth that is coming in is between those other two so he'll have one middle tooth up top.
Last but not lease here is the newest product that my Mom sewed for me. She made Andrew a shopping cart cover. It has the "Cars" pattern on it. She really did a good job on putting it together. THANKS MOM!!!

Good News!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Andrew has a new cousin. She was born on Monday at 2 pm. Her name is Mackenzie Leigh Shepherd. She was I believe 8 lbs and something ozs. I don't have that much info but they both are doing good. Oh this was David's oldest brother Mike and his Family who welcomed the new addition to their family. Still waiting on another new baby later this year from David's sister Marianne.

Well, David has been in school for a full week and everything is going okay. He is taking two math classes and a chemistry class this semester. He gets home from school at the latest by 3 pm and the earliest by 10 am. It depends on the day.

We have Andrew on a schedule now. He wakes up by 7:30 am, takes a nap around 10 am and another nap around 3 pm. (If we are lucky, these naps last about 2 hours each. If not, he's crabby all day.) Then he goes to bed at 8pm. He eats about 30 ozs of milk and 8 ozs of solids through the whole day. He is a growing boy.

Finally it has happened

Well this is our house when we moved into it in March of this year all the way up to this last weekend. Now this is how the house looks today. We finally have grass in our front yard. David, his Dad and members from the ward all got together to put the grass in Early Saturday morning.
This is one of the sides of the house and the back of the house.

They're coming so fast....

Well, Andrew is getting more teeth. He already has his two front bottom teeth. Yesterday David and I have confirmed that more teeth are coming in. His two bottom teeth on both sides of his front are coming in. So he has his four front teeth now and still no top teeth yet. It is kinda amazing because he hasn't been that crabby and we haven't had to give him any Tylenol. Maybe he'll be fine for now on but we will just have to see.

Happy 28th Birthday

I just wanted to wish my husband a very happy birthday. He doesn't have to go to school today and can relax around the house all day if he wants. (but really, he's going to be working on his car.)
We really celebrated his birthday yesterday. Since it was Sunday and everyone would be home. We ate a turkey dinner and some of David's favorite dessert. Nothing too exciting, all of his brothers and sisters live to far away to have everyone celebrate with us. But we still know that they all wish that they were here. We miss you all!!

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!!

David, Andrew and I would like to wish you both a happy Anniversary!! Hope that you both have a good day together.

Check up!!

Yesterday Andrew had his six month check-up. I know that he is seven months old now, I'm was just a month behind. But I'll be right on track for his next appointment at nine months. Anyways, Andrew weighs 16 lbs 11 oz, is 27 in long and has a head circumference of 45 in. He is in the 50th percentile. All is good and well.

Movie Time!!

Okay I hope that this works out. I have a movie that I am posting of Andrew, I'm not going to tell you what it is about. You just have to watch and see for yourself. I made it a link because I can't figure out how to post it into my blog. So just click on the link and you should see the movie!! Hope that you enjoy this short clip!!

Sorry!!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple weeks. Andrew is working on two teeth right now. They both appeared a day apart and he isn't that happy. Besides the two teeth coming in he has mastered to scoot backwards and he hasn't figured out how to go forward. He will scoot himself all around the house if he could. The other day he went form the fridge and scooted backwards around the island and started down the hall towards the garage backwards. I had fun watching him do it. Andrew can now sit himself up into a sitting position when he is laying on the floor. But the one thing that he is getting good at is standing on all fours. He hasn't made any motion yet like this but it is fun to watch him get himself into this position. Sometimes he has his legs to far apart and he gets off balance. I enjoy watching the progress that Andrew is making everyday.
David only has two and a half weeks left of summer school. He is excited that it'll be over. Once this class ends he'll have a week off before the fall semester starts on August 27th. I'm still working away at Albertsons. The company has finally come up with a contract that gives me a raise and better benefits. I'm glad that there has been an agreement because that means that we don't have to go on Strike again.
There really isn't a lot going on right now. We are just going day to day trying to survive.

New Pics!!

Andrew is now on his way to trying to crawl. He has gone from sitting up with no problem to turning his body and falling on his face. David and I believe that he will be crawling this next month. We just can't wait for him to be getting into everything. Well, here is the update on David. He has finished his first five week summer school class and he starts his next classes tomorrow. I'm still at Albertson's and nothing to exciting has happened to me.
The one sad thing is that our company has left this morning. David's younger brother and his family were in town this last week visiting everyone. Now we have to wait till they save up enough money to fly back into town. We were sad to see them go because we enjoyed to time that we had to spend with them. Maybe we will see them again when Andrew turns one. Maybe just maybe.

Celebrate the 4th of July

Every year we go to San Diego to Celebrate the 4Th of July! We left our house at 9 am on the 4Th and got to San Diego by lunch time. There was no traffic at all on our way down. Andrew slept the whole way down there but woke up when we got off the freeway. After some lunch we headed down to the beach for Andrew's first beach experience. I sat him down on the "wet" sand just out of the wakes. He was doing great playing on the beach. He was picking up the sand with his left hand and playing with it. When a wake got strong enough he would get a little wet. He only had three wakes hit him the whole time that we were at the beach. He really didn't like the water much because it was on the colder side for him but we survived. After the excitement we went back to the beach house to take eat some more and to take naps. (Well, Andrew took the nap.) We all just hung out, watched movies, played at the beach and ate food. We had dinner at 8 pm and everyone went down to the beach at 9 pm to watch the fireworks. David and I stayed back at the house to put Andrew down to sleep. Once Andrew was asleep we went up onto the roof patio to watch the fireworks go off and the surrounding areas. Once they were over we loading into the car and headed back home. We got home at 1 am and Andrew woke up at 7 am. So much for sleeping in.
