Halloween Fun!

This year for Halloween, I took Andrew around the neighborhood by myself. Since Andrew still fit into his costume from last year we opted to have him wear it again. As you can see in the pictures below, the costume was huge on him last year. In fact I had the roll the pants to keep them on him.

So at the first house that we went to, Andrew got a sucker and wouldn't walk another step until I opened it for him. We really didn't get to go to that may houses this year. I believe we only got to four houses before Andrew wouldn't walk anymore. We did see some nice decorations though. Here are a couple of the houses that we went to.

Lombardi Ranch

Well Andrew went to Lombardi Ranch for the first time
today. It was a fun experience. We took him to the cut outs to take a picture of him but that only lasted a couple minutes. There was just so much to see that he couldn't stay in one place for too long. What he really liked was the tires of the small pumpkins. He would just run straight to them and go to town.
We even found this huge pumpkin that just ate Andrew up. All you can see is his butt.Even thought we didn't stay that long, we all had fun.

This was a picture that we took before we left the house to go to Lombardi Ranch. Andrew waited for David to take a picture of him. This is the smile that we gave. It just makes me laugh.

SILV Day 3 &4

SUPRA'S INVADE LAS VEGAS

On Saturday we had a Scenic Drive that really wasn't very Scenic. We left the Hampton Inn off of Tropicana and drove down Las Vegas Blv. until we pretty much got to Prim. (The town is called Jean.) We turned off of Las Vegas Blv. and took some pics at that Mobil station across the street from the jail. Anyways, we turned right and went away from the freeway into the mountains. We drove into a town call Goodsprings. We meet at this bar and grill Called the Pioneer Saloon.

This saloon has a history. This is the story behind it:
About 40 minutes south of Vegas you'll find Goodsprings Nevada. Named after Joseph Good, whose cattle frequented a sripng nestled in the south eastern foothills of the Spring Mountains. Goodspring was once the heart of the most productive mining districs in Clark county. Over the years, lead, silver, copper, zinc and gold have been mined from this area. Most early buildings in the town were constructed durning the boom spurred by the railroad in 1910-1911.
Goodsprings is currently the home of the Pioneer Saloon, considered to be the oldest saloon in Nevada (over 90 years old) The saloon houses a bullet hole on the side of the building and coroner's letter describing how it was created. The saloon is said to be "haunted" by the victim's ghost by many. In addition, the Pioneer saloon has a small memorial to both Clark Gable and Carole Lombard. Ms. Lombard's plane crashed in the area in 1942, and the saloon was the center of operations for the search. The crash resulted in her death.
After WW1, mining slowed and families moved away. WW2 created a second boom, but it slowed after the was ended. The town's population had dwindled to approximately 200.
We drove out there to have lunch. They BBQ us steaks and then we had beans, mac&cheese, and choc. Chip cookies to eat. It was nice to be able to hang out with some old and new friends. We stayed out there until maybe 3pm. We left there and drove back to our place to rest. I watched a movie while David took a friend for a drive in his car. We stayed there until it was time to go the track once again. We arrived at the track around 7pm and we paid extra to get David's car in so we wouldn't have to walk too far. Plus we also paid for David to be on the track to take some pictures. He got some awesome shots. The drags were a little windy but fun to watch. A lot of Supra's pushed the envelope a little to much and broke their cars. Just a few of those cars that broke were street cars. The majority of the cars that broke were race cars. So we had a lot of laughs and enjoyed our time. The races ended around 9pm. (We got there for the eliminations only.) While we were waiting around for the trophies to be handed out, it stated to rain and got out of dodge. We arrived back at our place with little trouble.

Day 4
We woke up around 8am and David took the car to be washed after the rain. (It was really dirty.) I packed the room up and had everything to go when we got back to check out of our room by 10am. After packing up the car we drove home to California. We stopped off along the way to eat at the outlet at Prim. Then got back on the road at 12:30 and arrived home around 4pm. My parents brought Andrew home around 5pm and he was so excited to be home. Thanks again to my parents for taking care of Andrew for the week.

SILV Day 2

SUPRA'S INVADE LAS VEGAS

Well on Day 2 we had a Car show that took up most of the day. It didn't start till around 2 pm, so David and I were able to sleep in till 10:30 am. (We had an early morining/late night the day before.) We polished the car in the parking lot of our Hotel and then drove out to the Las Vegas Motor sports center to participate in the car show. We arrived at 1 pm and hung out till the sun started to go down around 6 pm. At that time we drove down to the area around Red rock canyon to have dinner at a Buffet. We went with all the MK2 guys.(MK2 means Second generation Supra) There was about 18-20 of us that went to dinner.
After dinner we drove back into town to go to the Awards Ceremony at the Tropicana Conference Center.
On the way down to the 15 Fwy from the 95 Fwy, we were taking to transition road. (We were crusing slower then usual because the the roads in Vegas a very slick.) This guy in a Jetta came to whip around us on the turn of the transition road and started to slid. You have to understand, he was right next to us. David moved over a little bit to give him room, then the guy went side ways toward our rear bumper. David put his foot down to excelerate away from getting hit. The guy nearly hit our car on the drivers side as he was sliding sideways right next to us. But thankfully we were able to excelerate away from him so that when he drove into our lane we weren't there. After sliding into our lane the additude of his car changed once again. Now at this time he over corrented once again so he started sliding sideways toward the outer wall. As he started sliding directly at the wall we watching intently to watch him hit it. Fortulenly for him he stopped within intches of hitting the wall and blocking both lanes of the overpass. We are very thankful that we were paying attention and got ourselves out of a bad situation.
Once we arrived at the Awards Banquet, we had this story to tell. At the banquet there was a slide show which covered the events from the past few days. David was in "Many" of the pictures. He bribed the picture taker. (j/k) We had many laughs.
When they started hand out the trophies David received two this year. He got a trophie for the "Highest Horsepower" for his car. His second trophie was awarded from the car show. This was voted from the other car show participants. He received the "Best in Show MK2". These are going to be the only awards that we are going to get. The last two events are happening today. There is going to be a Scenic Drive that goes 50 miles round trip and the the drags later this night. We are going to be driving home on Sunday. So one more day of fun in Vegas. Yeah!

SILV Day 1

SUPRA'S INVADE LAS VEGAS

Well, David and I are in Vegas right now. We left Andrew at home with my parents for the weekend. This is the first time since he was born that I have been away from him overnight. I sure miss my little guy.
Anyways, today was Day 1 of our trip in Vegas. This morning was the "Dyno Challenge" and David had a slot at 10 am to be on the Dyno. (He had to be the first on the Dyno.) He did two 4th gear pulls and made 401 rwh (rear wheel horsepower). It was a very good pull and all that his turbo in his car could make. David is happy with what his car did and he will be going home with a trophy when the day is done.
Right now we are relaxing in our nice villa. I'm sad that I didn't bring my bathing suit because the pool here has a couple water slides. But it is not like I really am going to go to the pool. We have plans tonight to go out to dinner with some of our car friends at 7pm. After that we are going to go to bed for some more fun tommorow.

Growing Boy

David took these of Andrew using a fork to eat. There are just a few things that he will eat by himself. He still likes us to feed him his food. But he sure is growing up fast sometimes. Hopefully he'll become more independent as the year goes on.

Andrew's new favorite food is a nectarine. We started buying nectarines and eating them. Andrew being the "mooch" as he is, wanted to try one. So David gave him a bit of one. Andrew started off taking a small bit to taste it, to see if he liked it. His next bit was really big, so we figured that he likes them. He's been eating them ever since.
Just last week I gave him one to eat and he ate the whole thing. I now just give him a nectarine while he is sitting in his chair, with a plate underneath, and he goes to town. Andrew started off leaving the nectarine on the plate and bringing his mouth to it. Now he has learned to use his hands to eat it. Such a mess but he loves his fruit.

Lake trip Last Month

We went to Buena Vista last month for a day. We woke up early on a Monday morning and drove to my parents house to drive to the lake. We got up the lake mid-morning around 10 am. We set up camp and then went out on the boat for some wake boarding. Andrew just loved being in the water. He was just having a blast kinda jumping off the back step of the boat. Once he would be in the water he just wanted to walk around and splash. He would walk out into the water until he was almost fully under the water. But he just loved it.

Andrew has no problem on the boat. He was having a blast. I even showed him that he could put his hand out and have the water hit his hand. He thought that is was the coolest thing.
Andrew really didn't care for the life jacket, so we just put it one him while we were out on the boat. When we were on land we just let him run free.
